First introduced in 1961, King Seiko became one of Seiko’s most technically innovative and stylish brands, noted for its sleek, dignified profile Reflecting traditional aspects of Japanese Ukiyo-e, a genre of art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries, the dial of this stunning timepiece expresses “Tenjin Fuji Violet,” dramatically showcasing a pale violet gradation and a wisteria flower pattern, inspired by the vibrant blooms at the Tenjin Shrine in Kameido, Japan, the birthplace of King Seiko. Echoing the 1965 original, the patterned light purple dial features diamond cut hands, meticulously cut dimensional indices with a separately carved 12 o’clock marker, and a date calendar. Designed for sophistication and comfort, this elegant timepiece is engineered with a slim 10.7mm case, as well as sharply delineated case and crystal edges. The 26-jewel 6L35 caliber movement, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a power reserve of approximately 45 hours, and manual winding capability, offers such features as a bi-directional winding system and rapid date change mechanism while maintaining a slender profile. In 1965, four years after the birth of the first King Seiko, a series known as the King Seiko KSK was created. It was this design that forever defined the character of the collection, with its sharp, angular case and high functionality. Featuring a combination of a beautifully-finished dial with faceted indexes and broad, razor-edged hands, modern re-interpretations of the KSK offer a refined and striking presence. The twelve o’clock index is more than twice the width of the others and has a patterned texture specially crafted to ensure high legibility and to give the dial a bright sparkle that invites the eye. The bold, uniquely shaped lugs have sharp angles and wide flat surfaces that showcase both mirror and hairline finishing, creating a sense of precision.
